what is major part of legal aptitude and mathematics?
Hi Anushka,
CLAT Maths is of elementary nature and does not test candidates on difficult formulae or elaborate steps. If your fundamentals are clear, you can solve all the CLAT maths questions with ease.
- First, number systems and fundamental techniques (percentages, fractions, averages and mean and ratio/proportion).
- Second, application of the techniques and concepts learned in the previous section (time and work, time and distance).
- Third, commercial Maths (comprising profit and loss, simple and compound interest).
- Lastly, the miscellaneous section (clock and calendar, permutation and combination, probability and sequence and series).
For Legal section, The legal reasoning is of high weight. For legal reasoning, I would give you a comprehensive approach.
The best way to prepare legal aptitude(LA) for CLAT is to
- Go through all the past year papers of CLAT, AILET,NLSIU(1988–2007) & NALSAR. Practice all the legal question given in these papers (esp.NLSIU) at least thrice coz this will make sure that even if the variants of these ques appear in the exam ( which usually do; in 2016, 80% of the paper was filled with past year ques) you will efficiently solve them. Also, this will build a strong base by making legal concepts clear.
- If you have subscribed some mock series go with the legal question sincerely, solve and analyze them.
After doing past year papers and solving some 60–80 mocks from a trusted source you may develop a rationale for legal ques which will ensure 80–90% accuracy which is quite good.
Solving books for LA is not that important. I never went through one. The above-mentioned things may serve the purpose pretty well…
