Dear Vinaya,

BASLP course means Bachelors in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology. This particular course which is of four years duration helps candidates to be trained in the assessment, management and rehabilitation of persons with speech, language and hearing disorders such as Aphasia, Learning Disability and other childhood communication disorders resulting from hearing loss, mental retardation, cerebral palsy etc.

Audiology concerns the area of hearing loss, it's diagnosis and rehabilitation. This is from newborns to geriatrics. There are many sub fields too.

Speech-Language Pathology is  that which concerns communication disorders in its broadest description.

You'll be working in different setups. It can be hospitals, clinics, private centres, universities, schools and much more.

There is widerange of scope for people in this sector. When you get into it, you realise there is more depth to the subject and there's always so much you can do to improve. In terms of job opportunities, people have diverse settings to choose from  and they can work in hospitals, schools, or public/ private setups. The profession is quite demanding nowadays..

A fresh graduate can expect a salary of about 40–50k in the field. You can also choose to work on an independent research project with grants from the government so if you're interested in research alone, you can have endless opportunities in that stream.

I'd also suggest you look into the website of RCI and also All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) for more information.

Again for your question on if you can get in a govt college, you would require to tell me which state are you from?

Looking forward to hear from you and wishing you all the best

Dear Niranjan, Since your NEET score is 292, you will not have a chance in government Medical college. But you always have the scope of trying in private medical colleges. Wishing you all the best..

BASLP stands for Bachelor of Audiology & Speech Language Pathology. With this score, chances should be average for this one, paramedical and ayush courses in private colleges. So if you are interested in this then you should go for it. And the scope for the same is also decent.

Hope this helps!!!
