Knowing the difference between percentage and percentile is really important when you’re going to appear in any competitive exam.

In  percentile, the student getting the highest marks is considered.

For example, in a class of 100 students, if a student scores highest marks then it means, he is above the rest 99 students. Therefore he gets 99 percentile.

If your rank is 30, then it means that you have scored more than 70 people, hence you’ve got 70 percentile

In your case you have scored 74 percentile, it means you have scored more than 74 students.

Therefore percentile depends upon the students score and not calculated out of 100.

Dear student.

Greetings.

We can explain the concept of percentile by an example. Suppose a person has a percentile of 99%. It means that of the total candidates, 99% of the candidates have a score lower than the person.

Thank you.

All the best.
