Hello Aspirant, level
CAT Or common Admission test is national level exam for MBA Aspirants. Final year or graduated once are elegible for this test.
There are three sections in CAT Verbal, Reasoning, And quants. And they do have different different cut offs. Like generally one section is always difficult comparison to two. Last time verbal section was difficult. Hence the cut off for this section was low.
In CAT, percentile is taken for admission to any college or university, which means that your marks matter but in comparison to the marks of other students and if we talk about sections in CAT you may get 99 percentile at 62 – 65 in VARC where as 33 – 35 in LR DI could have fetched you the same and similarly for QUANTS so some Colleges keep different Sectional Weightage according to their level. So it depends on college to college.
Hope you understood:)
Dear,
Sectional weightage, as you say is the weightage given to each section. But when it comes to getting into IIMs, they need a minimum sectional percentile of 80 to 90 in each of the 3 sections namely Quantitative Aptitude; Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension; and Data Interpretation & Logical reasoning. In fact it is your high sectional percentile that pushes up the overall percentile. If you score 85 to 95 percentile in each of the 3 sections, you will be in the 98-99 percentiler club and will be shortlisted by one of the top IIMs. So, it is said to focus on each section and score good.
Hope this helps!
