Mechanical engineering is a diverse subject that derives its breadth from the need to design and manufacture everything from small individual parts and devices (e.g., microscale sensors and inkjet printer nozzles) to large systems (e.g., spacecraft and machine tools). The mechanical engineer needs to acquire particular skills and knowledge. He/she needs to understand the forces and the thermal environment that a product, its parts, or its subsystems will encounter; to design them for functionality, aesthetics, and the ability to withstand the forces and the thermal environment they will be subjected to; and to determine the best way to manufacture them and ensure they will operate without failure.

Also, if you talk about salary then it is quite difficult to predict as it depends which organisation you are associated with and how much work ex you are having but tentatively the average one should be 10k-25k.

Scope -

There is a huge demand for skilled mechanical engineers in India and abroad. The expertise of a mechanical engineer is required in manufacturing industries like automobiles, aviation, etc. Also, the skills of a mechanical engineer is sought in fields such as nano-technology, biomedical engineering, energy conservation and more.

Some of the job roles which a mechanical engineer performs -

Automotive engineer

Biomedical engineer

Consulting

Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) engineer

Nuclear engineer

Robotics engineer etc.

Hope this helps!!!!

Mechanical engineering is a professional programme which helps students to understand the working mechanisms of heavy tools and machineries.  The branch applies principles of engineering, physics and material science for the design, analysis, manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical systems. The course covers technical areas like distribution of electricity through generators, transformers, transmission lines, lighting and wiring in buildings. A course in mechanical engineering makes a student gain knowledge and experience in the designing of electric motors, automobiles, aircrafts and other heavy vehicles. Mechanical engineering demands knowledge about software used in technical work like computer-aided design and mathematical modelling.

Scope of Mechanical Engineering

  • Mechanical Engineering covers aspects like design and testing among others. The job demands supervision and planning of live projects related to thermal power plants, nuclear stations, generation of electricity, etc.
  • There are employment opportunities for diploma holders who have practical knowledge of working on fields like testing of machinery etc.
  • The emerging fields in this area include renewable energy, automobiles, quality control, Industrial Automation, Mechanobiology. These are going to increase manpower in the work profile of mechanical engineering and would offer employment opportunities.

Salary in mechanical engineering depends on the college from which you are pass out and your caliber.

The average pay for a Mechanical Engineer is Rs 337,899 per year. Most people with this job move on to other positions after 10 years in this career. Skills that are associated with high pay for this job are C++, ANSYS, Engineering Design, ANSYS Simulation Software, and Project Management. Experience strongly influences income for this job.

Good Luck!!
