Admission in a government college depends on a lot of factors. The marks, ranks, seats, category, etc. If there is a huge number of seats, then a rank ranging from 200-600 or even more, will be fine. But if the seats are less, then one may look forward to secure ranks below 400. Also, it will depend on your category as the cut offs are different for different categories. In case of IPU, seats are decreased without proper notifications and also the cut offs vary a lot every year.
