Hey!

As the name refers, p-type semiconductors are positively charged and n type semiconductor are negatively charged. p-type semiconductor is created when any trivalent impurity is added to  pure semiconductor such as silicon or germanium and n type semiconductor is formed when any pantavalent impurity is added to an intrinsic or pure semiconductor such as phosphorus or arsenic.
