NRI means quota for non residents Indian.

But so many people of our country Take admission in good colleges by giving extra money in this quota by unfair means.

Further clarity is required on your background to determine eligibility

Suppose your dad is working in Abu Dhabi - But what is your domicile? Are you studying in India or in Abu Dhabi? To be eligible for DASA quota (applicable to NITs and a bunch of other institutions), the student needs to be studying outside India (i.e. an NRI).

For more details of DASA quota, read https://www.dasanit.org/dasa2016...

So, in cases where the student has moved to India in his or her 6th, 8th or 10th standard, and is pursuing school education in India, he or she is NOT eligible for DASA quota.

Specially for NRI children from the Middle East, there is a further reservation for Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries (CIWG). One-third of the DASA seats are reserved for this category, and it works essentially on the same basis and eligibility criteria. The difference is in the fee structure, with CIWG (US$ 700 per semester) being much lower than DASA (About US$ 7000 a year). Naturally, the SAT cut-offs are higher for CIWG quota as against DASA. One reads through the document above to get a full understanding of the eligibility criteria, and which quota is applicable, if at all.

There are other colleges where it is sufficient if the parents are in the Gulf, and the student study in India. And then, there are other colleges, where it is sufficient if the siblings of one of their parents is an NRI, and they are willing to sponsor the childs education. As always, the devil is in the details!

All the best!

Dear Rohith,

Yes, there are some colleges which allows NRI quota in admissions. Top Engineering colleges like NITs, IIITs, BITS pilani have alloted seats for NRI's and Children of Indians Working in Gulf(CIWG) under DASA(Direct Admission of Students Abroad). These students are selected on the basis of their SAT scores.

you can also go through below link so, that you will get clear about NRI quota:

Hii,

NRI means non-resident indian. NRI seats are reserved for indians who are not residing in india. Sometimes, people extract money by unfair means by taking advantage of NRI quota seats. Usually fees is also higher for NRI students.

Good luck...
