Hello Aspirant,
PRODUCTION ENGINEERING
“Production engineering is a combination of manufacturing technology, engineering sciences with management science. A production engineer typically has a wide knowledge of engineering practices and is aware of the management challenges related to production.”
INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING
“Industrial engineering is a branch of engineering which deals with the optimization of complex processes, systems or organizations. Industrial engineers work to eliminate waste of time, money, materials, man-hours, machine time, energy and other resources that do not generate value.”
Production engineers are responsible for devising exactly how something is going to be made, what machines are going to make it and how it can be made as efficiently and as safely as possible. These products can be anything from newspapers and plastic bottles to tin cans and iPods.
Alternatively, you could even be working to facilitate the transfer of hydrocarbons from oil into the production process. As long as there are a production line and a process, you’re likely to find a production engineer close by.
Good luck!
