what is research and what are it's objectives
Hello Showkat,
Research is a consideration of study regarding a particular concern or problem using scientific methods in a careful manner. American sociologist, Earl Robert Babbie, described research as: “A systematic inquiry to describe, explain, predict, and control the observed phenomenon. Research involves inductive and deductive methods."
Some of the objectives of research are as follows:
- To gain familiarity with a phenomenon or to achieve new insights into it
- To portray accurately the characteristics of a particular individual, situation or a group
- To determine the frequency with which something occurs or with which it is associated with something else
- To test a hypothesis of a causal relationship between variables
Hope this helps you. We wish you the best for your future endeavours!
