The school registration number is a unique identification number assigned by the government/ education board to the school.
Hi
I will try my level best to answer this as close to as possible.
The school registration number that you are implying to here may be either the registration number mentioned in the registration certificate of the trust/society of the school or the UDISE code. The trust/society has to be registered for it to be functioning so there is obviously a number allotted to it. But i suppose it is not useful to students.
Another is UDISE code which stands for
Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE) initiated in 2012-13 integrating DISE for elementary and secondary education is one of the largest Management Information Systems on School Education covering more than 1.5 million schools, more then 9.6 million teachers and more then 264 million children.
UDISE+ is an updated and improved version of UDISE. The entire system is now online and has been collecting data in real-time since 2018-19.
This data is collected and mandated by the government of India.

Click the above link enter your pincode and you will find the detailed data of all the schools and junior colleges near by.
You will also get the UDISE code which is unique to each schools. After registration each school gets a UDISE number which work the same way as Aadhaar does for individuals to get government benefits. UDISE also becomes the unique ID for every school and that gets linked for admission process as well.
