The maximum relaxation given to OBC candidates is three years. As per the eligibility criteria of UPSC, to apply for the exam candidates should be between the age of 21 and 32 years as on August 1, 2018.
The maximum relaxation given to candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu and Kashmir during the period from January 1, 1981 to December 31, 1990 is five years.
The maximum relaxation given to Blind, Hearing Impaired and Orthopaedically handicapped candidates is ten years.

The age limit for UPSC exam for all categories are given as follows:
For General Category candidates, the new age limit is 32 years and the number of attempts is 06. For OBC Category candidates, the new age limit is 35 years and the number of attempts is 09. For SC/SC Category candidates, the new age limit is 37 years while the number of attempts unlimited.
