GATE, in contrast to college examinations, can't be broken with a medium-term planning. It requires devoted and delayed endeavors.
For somebody who is committed towards GATE preparation, begin directly from second year. Begin gradually yet relentlessly. Concentrate on the basics. While concentrating for school tests, get ready for focused examination perspective moreover. Do understand earlier year addresses next to each other. No compelling reason to surge. Simply keep up a harmony among arrangement and school life.

Hello there!!! Gate preparation usually requires a time period of atleast 2 years. So ideally you can start preparing from your 3rd year. Although to get an extra advantage you can start from your second year itself(preferably from 4th sem) and i have seen many who start preparing from 2nd year itself. So to summarise the ideal time would be either from 2nd year when its half completed or from the start of 3rd year.
GATE, unlike college examinations, cannot be cracked with an overnight preparation. It requires dedicated and prolonged efforts.
For someone who is dedicated towards GATE preparation, start right from second year. Start slowly but steadily. Focus on the basics. While studying for college exams, prepare for competitive examination point of view also. Do solve previous year questions side by side. No need to rush. Just maintain a balance between preparation and college life.
