What is the criteria required to study in Germany
Hello Tushar Sharma,
Germany is soon becoming a student hub because of its mind-blowing scholarships and amazing practical and theoretical courses. Here are a few steps you need to follow in order to study in Germany:
- First and foremost before going into the whole procedure you need to shortlist a university and a course or study programme which suits to your needs and requirements. Sort out a few university and study programmes so that the steps ahead become easier to follow.
- Entry requirements for international students varies from university to university however some common documents you will definitely need include entrance qualification certificate, proof of language proficiency (in both English and German), transcripts of grades, letters of motivation and recommendation, statement of purpose, ID or valid passport copies etc.
- You now need to file your applications and deliver them to the universities you have selected, this can be done through online portals or you can post it.
- Within two to three months you will receive your acceptance letter if the university finds your application fitting to its standards and set yardsticks. You need to apply for the German student visa before receiving your acceptance letters.
- Once you receive the letter you go to a German embassy in India along with a copy of the visa, the admission letter, proof of health insurance coverage, proof of financial resources, proof of language proficiency (German and English) and university entrance qualification.
- Lastly you need to find accommodations in Germany whether they be off-campus or in-campus based on your convenience.
List of documents you need to have:
- Proof of identity: You need to have a six month valid passport along with four passport size photos.
-
Proof of educational certificates:
You need to compulsorily have the grade sheets and qualifications starting from tenth grade.
-
Proof of experience certificates:
If you have done an internship or worked with an NGO then you need to present physical proofs of the same in order for them to be considered.
-
Proof of English language proficiency:
You need to have a valid IELTS or TOEFL score card in order to prove your proficiency in English.
- Proof of financial support: This is to show that you have enough money to pursue education in Germany and also stay there comfortably.
However these requirements vary from university to university and thus you can revert back in case you have any particular university in mind.
All the best!
I hope this answers your queries.
Do revert back in case of any further doubts.
