Hi Sathya....
JEE Main Cutoff 2019 – NTA will release the JEE Main 2019 qualifying cutoff along with the result in the first week of February. Candidates can check the JEE Main cutoff 2019 by logging into the result portal online. The JEE Main 2019 cutoff will be published category-wise. The qualifying JEE Main cutoff 2019 is the minimum score candidate needs to score to be eligible to appear in JEE Advanced. In this sense it is different from the JEE Main cutoff that is published by JoSAA for the participating institutes for admission purpose. The JEE Main 2019 cutoff published by JoSAA will be branch and category specific for each participating institute; and each cutoff will list the minimum ranks required for admission. If a JEE Mains aspirant doesn’t meet the the cutoff of an institute, the candidates have little chance of admission at that institute.
If one takes a closer look at the JEE Main qualifying marks over the last few years, one can see a particular trend. It is that the qualifying cutoff is coming down every year. Take for instance, the qualifying JEE Main 2019 cutoff for open category in 2013 was 113, which nosedived to 74 in 2018. This trend can be seen across all categories.
Some of the explanation for this trend could be:
- The entrance exam is getting tougher
- More number of candidates are included in the qualifying list. It is true for JEE Main 2018, when the number of qualifying candidates was increased from 2,24,000 to 2,31,025.
- Candidates are not performing as well as did previously. A key trend in recent years have been the dominance of coaching candidates in the toppers list. So, a moot question could be is the exam tilted against candidates who don’t take or can’t afford coaching.
These are the cutoffs for past few years:

Hi there.
Please check the link below to find the answer to your query. The cut off depends upon the number of seats available, the difficulty level of paper and number of candidates writing the examination. And, hence varies every year depending on these factors. You can get a general idea of cut off by looking at previous year trends. Here is the link for the same:
