Affiliated college
These type are affiliated to some or the other university. They have to follow the syllabus prescribed by the university and also the all the norms & regulations etc. The admissions are decided centrally by the University. The exams too are conducted by the university. This means all the colleges affiliated to the same university will have same question papers and will be evaluated by same people with same criteria.
Autonomous colleges on the other hand are granted freedom and in some or all the matters. They can have their own syllabus, evaluation patterns etc. It is not easy to get the status of an autonomous college, Currently, any affiliated college which has been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation council of India (NAAC) for three times with a higher grade. This assessment is five yearly. The college can apply for autonomous status and U.G.C. may or may not grant it authority.
Advantage
Affiliated colleges have the advantage of having a right kind of
1. infrastructure
2. efficient faculty to support them in implementing new
3.improved syllabus if required.
4.The working and the administrations is interfering and becomes worse if political interest influences them.(disadvantage )
5. Fees structure is modest.
Vs
Autonomous colleges are best because the decisions that a college will be solely upon head of the college rather than asking the affliated heads whether the decision is right or wrong.
Government college don't take admission through management .They have certain protocol like entrance exam or merit system for admission.
Thanks !
