There is a huge career oriented difference between ba and ba hons.

A student of ba hons can be able to specialized in his or her own era but the ba student can't.

Also in ba there is some off topic subjects with the main subjects but in the syllabus of hons you can get it with several part of the same subject.

So hons is very important for one's career.
