CSE: Job openings for Software professionals is much higher in the corporate sector than in public sector. Professionals can join as junior programmer, database administrator, junior network manager, Data Analyst, Software Developer, Software Engineer, and Client-Server Systems Manager etc in the initial stage. Students have job opportunities at organizations like IBM, Intel, HP, TCS, INFOSYS, WIPRO, TECHMAHINDRA,CTS and Dell in India and abroad.
IT Career option: IT Specialists are required in almost all range of employment fields such as finance, arts, medicine, defense, and other areas. In most colleges around 75% curriculum is exactly the same.
Computer Engineering jas a few more hardware related courses while IT has an edge on software related subjects.
Placements are almost same for both. Many PSU's and govt. jobs donot allow IT students to sit in placements which is I think is dye to lack of information with these companies. But reputation of IT is better in private sector and maximum jobs are in private sector but not difference also.
Computer students tend to be of higher rank so they tend to have a better expression in the recruiters mind but practically there is not much difference in this aspect too.
You should take Computer Engineering because of its slight better reputation but never compromise your college for Computer since the difference is not very significant.
