what is the difference between General & OBC Category? How?
Hey there
As per the reservation policy of our government there are four major categories GENERAL, OBC, SC, ST. Those who come from privileged castes and didn't face any discrimination in the past are put in this category. OBC is backward classes in which non Dalits but also non general category is put it has very large population. In OBC also there is creamy and non creamy layer which has been defined as per their income. Now there is EWS category in general category too which is reservation on the basis of income but still this reservation is only 10%. OBC reservation in our country is 27% official.
Good luck
Hi aspirant,
General category refers to those Section of people who are developed and well-to-date. They are uplifted Section of Society. These group of people are not provided any reservations.
OBC category is other backward class category. It refers to those Section of people who are a bit developed. They are more uplifted than SC/ST but less than general category. The people of these group are provided reservation to uplift themselves.
Hope it helps you.
General category refers to the open and unreserved categories while OBC or other backward classes refer to the castes which come under centre list of National commission of backward classes. OBC categories are further divided into creamy layer and non creamy layer based on income. While General category and creamy layer do not get any reservations In public educational institutions and jobs, non creamy OBC categories do get one.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.
