Dear,
Admission in a college can be through various ways. Firstly is through common entrance exam conducted by the respective State or national bodies and getting a good rank amongst the others, this is called a merit seat. Students getting admitted through common entrance tests have to pay minimal fees which normally includes the respective government fees and tution fees of the college.
Secondly is through the management quota. If a student wants to study in a good college but does not have the required marks to get into that college, then he can avail the management seat available in the college and pay the necessary fees. The fees here normally will be around 2 to 4 times the fees in merit quota.
Thirdly is through the entrance exam conducted by the specific institutes which enroll students based on their marks in the exam, this is called college entrance test. Here, the students will have to pay the fees notified by the college which will be higher than the merit seat fees but less than the management quota fees.
The first two methods are followed in most of the private institutions, third one is rare and can be found in the top private colleges in the country.
Hope this helps!
