What is the difference between IAS and IES (pls let me know in detail)? How to prepare for these exams?
Hi
Both the exams are conducted by upsc.IAS stands for Indian Administrative Forces and IES stands for Indian Engineering Services.IAS officers are employed in the administrative sector of government but IES officials deals with the technical works of government. The basic eligibility to apply for IES is to have a graduation in engineering. BTech graduates who are in their last year of BTech can also apply for these posts. For specific posts, postgraduates from the Science stream like Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics, Radio Engineering can apply. For IAS the candidates who have passed with a degree in any discipline can apply. The process for IES consists of two stages – A written examination and a personal interview. The examination consists of two sections – an objective type section that covers general topics and a subjective type section where students have to answer essay type questions based on the particular field of engineering. To become an IAS officer, one has to clear the Civil Service Examination conducted by UPSC. The examination consists of three stages – A Preliminary exam followed by the Mains exam which is followed by a Personal Interview. Both exams being the most competitive as well as hard one, you have to do your maximum and work consistently. Go through exam pattern, understand the syllabus, solve mock tests, previous year question papers etc.
Wishing you all the very best for your journey ahead.
