AIIMS and JIPMER are both Institutes of National importance. They are the best institutes in India. JIPMER have only two campuses one at Puducherry other at Karaikal whereas AIIMS is expanding with over 10 campuses. For comparison, JIPMER Puducherry can be compared to AIIMS Delhi. Other AIIMS are pretty new, and can not compare with an age old 150 years JIPMER. So how do candidates choose which to go. It simply depends on the location and language preference. People from north generally prefer AIIMS because Hindi is the mode of patient doctor interaction. In JIPMER it’s Tamil. Zither factors like food, distance matters. A extra message: JIPMER is called the AIIMS of South.
