What is the difference between MBA Or MBA in some specific branch.?
MBA is MAsters in Business Management. In this you get a General Management Degree i.e you study subjects from each of the domains - Finance, Marketing, HR, Operations, IT etc. In general, all IIMs offer a General Management degree or plain MBA only but it does hold a greater value. In the first year you have a mix of all subjects and the second year you get to choose which domain your want to specialise in by taking more electives in that domain or you can spread your risks and take electives evenly.
When it comes to MBA in a specific domain, you are more focussed to courses of that domain. The academic cirriculum covers minimum (say 1) courses from other domain and had an in depth focus on the domain you are doing MBA in.
MBA in Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management (HRM), Information Technology, Retail Management, Business Process Management (BPM), Product Management,Hotel Management, Brand Management, etc. are some of the hot branches of today that are going to provide you the right returns for your heavy investments in the degree course.
After an MBA, you can get into the field you are specialised in and the market always welcomes new talent. There are various colleges to take up students willing to get into this course but believe me the possibilities with the more specified and directed courses is plenty. With a sharp mind and a heart for learning, one can do exceptionally well and ensure a great future.

Hi Richa,
You can either pursue a general MBA program which covers the concepts of marketing, finance, communication, etc. or a specialised MBA program which covers only one specific field such as MBA in HR, MBA in Marketing, MBA in Finance or Banking, etc. There is a huge number of MBA specialisations available today. You can choose any one of your interest to pursue a dedicated career in that stream only. Some of them are - Telecom, International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Forest Management, Communication, HRM, Banking, Finance, IT-Systems, Sports Management, Food Supply Management, etc.
Good luck.
