What is the difference between MD, MS, DM and DNB. Which one is a best option for better future?
A post-advanced education Diplomate in National Board (DNB) is granted by the National Board of Examinations under the Union Ministry of Health, India. DNB applicants are prepared at huge confidential emergency clinics, while the MD/MS up-and-comers are prepared at Medical Colleges. The main contrast between the two courses is the point at which an up-and-comer picks scholastics as their vocation choice. Numerous organizations favor MD/MS graduates over DNB graduates with regard to the education calls. DNB holders with at least three years of showing experience have a better possibility of getting some work in scholastics.
DNB versus MD/MS-Career:
The greater part of the public authority organizations thinks about DNB. A few clinical schools demand some additional work insight to think about DNB. In this way, there is no enormous distinction in finding a new line of work.
However, in confidential practice, DNB could confront trouble at first because of the discernment among the overall population yet can be perceived to be viewed as on par.
Conclusion:
• They are equivalent in esteem to rehearse a confidential work in India.
• For a showing position in Medical school MD/MS is favored somewhat more.
• For rehearsing abroad DNB has favored more.
Hence choose accordingly. All the best!
Dear Srinivas,
DM – Doctorate of Medicine is a super specialty course done after post-graduation (MD / MS) in Medical sciences. Diplomate of National Board (DNB) is a Post-graduate Master's degree same as an MD/MS degree awarded to the Specialist Doctors in India after completion of three- a year residency. It is equal to Doctorate of Medicine (DM) and Master of Chirurgiae (MCh) degrees awarded respectively in medical and surgical super specialties.
If you want to practice in a private job then they are equal in value, But for a teaching job in a Medical college MD/MS is preferred for practicing out of India DNB is preferred, But we have to be careful as the failure rate for final year DNB exams is higher than their MD/MS counterparts because of the strict unbiased examination pattern.
hope this information helps you
Hi aspirant,
MD and MS- Doctor of medicine or masters in surgery is a post graduation course in general medicine and surgery.
DNB- Diplomate of national board is a post graduate course awarded by the National board of examinations and is approved by the government of India.
Talking about the difference in these courses is after the candidates complete these courses they get to work as specialists in their fields and a lot of institutions prefer MD/MS graduates over DNB. Although if one wishes to pursue DNB with three or more years of experience they have a better chance at a job.
All the best!
