Both are good but there is a lot of scope for mechanical engineering since India is a vast unit for manufacturing so you I can definitely say that you will be working in a great place , but automobile engineering is a less chosen branch since India don't have as many automobile company units and automobile engineering particularly concentrates on the scope and advancement that should be done to a vehicle but mechanical engineering concentrates on scope of machines and design of machines finally I conclude that mechanical is the best but when you have a passion to do something no one or no factors can stop you

Scope for both is very large and cannot be quantified as a limit.

Mechanical engineering : study of solid and fluid mechanics

Automobile engineering : specific category in mechanical engineering where more focused study on design and research related to automobiles

Automobile Engineering is the division of Vehicle Engineering whereas in Mechanical engineering, you’ll deal with all machines and its designs. It deals with the mechanics of physics and science to analyze, manufacture and design mechanical systems.

Both have good scope in the future. It's depends on your interest which branch you want to prefer.

If we compare both the branches then mechanical engineering is one of the oldest branch of engineering. Hence, more scope of job rest totaly depends on your inerest.

Good luck!!
