Hi debesh,

Both NITs and IIITs are well-known for their outstanding standards of studies. NITs and IIITs have paid a great contribution in raising the structure of education in India.

IIIT (Indian Institute of information technology):

1. Basically, IIITs are of two types:

a.Setup, funded and managed by Ministry of Human resource development.

b. Setup on public private partnership. Example: IIIT Hyderabad.

2.The type 'a' college includes 4 colleges and type 'b' includes 20 colleges.

3. The industry partners play a vital role in determining type 'b' colleges syllabus and curriculum. Therefore, present day industrial needs are met by the graduates.

4.In IIIT, the admission is based on the All India quota. Not like NITs where we have state quota.

5.IIITs offer admissions in the branches like CSE,ECE,IT etc which are core branches in the field of information technology. These branches offer very high packages. This is the reason  for higher average salaries of IIITs  than NITs.

6. There are total 24 IIITs in total.

7. The best IIITs includes IIIT Allahabad, IIIT trichy, IIITDM kanchipuram etc.

NIT(National Institute of technology):

1.These colleges were earlier RECs who later changed to National Institute of Technology.

2. These are also Institute of National importance.

3.In NITs, 50% is reserved for the students of state quota and the other 50% is allotted to other quota.

4.The NITs offer admission in almost all fields and branches, which is not available in IIITs. So NITs offer different types of courses.

5.There are 31 NITs in total.

6.some of the best NITs are NIT trichy, Warangal, Surathkal, Allahabad, Calicut.

In my view, both have their pros and cons. Both the Institutes are having high national importance. And the quality of education is really good in these institutes. So, before getting admitted, just check the nirf (National Institute ranking framework ) ranking given by MHRD and select the best college accordingly.

Good luck!!

Hello.

These are the list of top NITs

  1. NIT Trichy
  2. NIT Warangal
  3. NIT Surathkal
  4. MNNIT Allahabad
  5. NIT Rourkela
  6. MNIT Jaipur
  7. NIT Calicut
  8. NIT Surat
  9. MANIT Bhopal
  10. NIT Durgapur
  11. VNIT Nagpur
  12. NIT Kurukshetr

We cannot conclude your question exactly because there are some IIITs which are equally good compared with IITs and there are some top NITs which are good than newly build IITs so IIITs govt. One are good and newly build are not so good. What ever you take NITs, IITs or IITs top institutions will be awesome than newly build.

Hope this is helpful.

Good luck.
