I am telling you whole process of councelling so you will understood the difference.

There are 3 online round and 1 offline round,i.e

1st round,2nd round,slidding round and spot round.You have to pay 1000 rs as counseling participation fees. After that you will be eligible to take part in online counseling round. Then you may get a college according to your rank and your preference list. You will get better colleges in subsequent rounds. You have to pay 40000 demand draft in favour of ip university if you are alloted any college . You can withdraw your money till 2nd round of counseling if you aren't satisfied with college. But after 2nd round there will not be complete refund of your money. After slidding round you can take part in spot round and may get a better college if there are any vacant seats left.

In online counseling you can do your choice filling from your home.. you just have to visit the official site and you can select your choices.

In offline counseling you have to go the university for the counselling.. you have to participate manually in the university..
