What is the difference between PGDM and MBA ?
Hi Shweta,
PGDM is Post Graduate Diploma in Management and MBA is Masters in Business Administration. PGDM is a diploma while MBA is a degree. It is generally said that a having a degree is better than diploma. Also that an MBA degree is internationally accepted.
However, till last year, before the MBA bill was passed, all IIMs gave PGDM only. But after the bill, few IIMs have started giving MBA. A PGDM from IIM is as good as an MBA and is internationally well known. The courses in both the cases are same and rthe exposure is of equal level.
I suggest you apply to all IIMs irrespective of whether it is mentioned as PGDM or MBA
All the best
