In the regular, you go to the school everyday and in private, you go to school only when there are exams. In the private school, a candidate's mark sheet has a quote, " this is a private student".

• A "Regular Candidate" means a student enrolled in a school, who has prosecuted a regular course of study in a school and seeks admission as such to the All India Senior School Certificate/Secondary School Examination of the Board
• Students can fill the private candidate application form if they belong to any one of the following categories: Candidates who have been declared ESSENTIAL REPEAT. Candidates who have been placed in COMPARTMENT in Main–examinations. Candidates who have been placed in COMPARTMENT.
