Hello dear

As there is no difference ( technically or you can say the procedure.)

Only difference is that the number of students may be changed and their preference and choices are different from those of 2018 students.

All the best.

Hello

JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) has been set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) to manage and regulate joint seat allocation for admissions to 100 institutes including IITs, NITs, IIITs and Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). Admissions to all these institutes are done through a single platform.

The idea behind introducing a single counselling platform was to reduce thousands of seats going vacant in engineering colleges across the country. The Joint seat allocation process was introduced to make the whole process of admissions smoother, effective, efficient, transparent and a lot faster.

In some courses there has been a relaxation of rank when it comes to non core courses like civiil or biotech . For more details you can visit https://josaa.nic.in/webinfocms/Handler/FileHandler.ashx?i=File&ii=164&iii=Y

The candidates will have to verify their documents at the nearest reporting centres. Original documents along with a set of photocopies has to be submitted for verification. The candidates will also have to select their preferred admission option for the allocated seat through JoSAA 2019 :

  • Freezing : This option has to be selected if the candidate is satisfied with his/her allotted seat. This will confirm that the candidates will not participate in the further round of seat allocation.

  • Floating : If the allocated candidate wants to accept the seat but is also open for admissions into higher choices in the other institutes during the future rounds of seat allocation, then they will have to select this option.

  • Sliding : This option has to be selected if the candidates accept their allotted seat but are also open for admission into a higher preferred course in the same institute.

Floating and sliding options will only be open for those candidates who are not allotted their first preference.
