The eligibility criteria to get admission in Post Graduate Diploma in Food safety and quality management is not common everywhere. But there is also some common criteria. Such as,
- You have to complete your graduation or post graduation in science with Chemistry or Bio-chemistry or Microbiology.
- You can also hold a degree or post graduation degree in allied sciences like Agriculture or Food Science or Food Technology or Post Harvest Technology or Engineering or Home Science or Life Science or Biochemistry or Biotechnology or Horticulture or Dairy Technology or Veterinary or Fisheries or Hotel Management or Catering or Microbiology or Hospitality Management.
- Science graduates in disciplines are also allowed in this course. These are Geography, Statistics with Physics and Math, Art Subject and Medical Lab Technology with minimum three years' experience in food processing or minimum one year experience in quality control activities.
- If you come from Arts or Commerce background, you can still get the opportunity. The Arts and commerce graduates with diploma in food science or hotel management disciplines can apply for this course. If you have completed your graduation with diploma in hotel management discipline, you must be a student of fruits and vegetables or diary technology or meat technology or cereal or pulses and oilseeds department who have minimum five years' experience in food processing or food quality control or hotel management (food preparation or food catering). Otherwise, you need two years' experience in quality control activities.
- If you are a B.A or B.COM graduate with seven years' experience in food processing or food quality control or hotel management ( food preparation and food catering ) or holding a senior position in government or semi government units involved in food quality control, you are eligible for this course.
- If you have passed higher secondary examination or qualified in I.T.I or equivalent of any university or recognized institute may apply for this course.
- You must have graduated from any recognized college and have scored a minimum of 50% marks to be eligible.
- If you have commerce background in school and a degree related to the field of commerce would have an advantage.

This shall provide vertical mobility to diploma holders.
e) B.A./ B.Com Graduates with minimum of 5 years’ experience in Food Processing/ Food Quality Control/ Hotel Management (food preparation/ food catering) or holding senior position in Govt./Semi Govt. Units involved in Food Quality Control.
F) Minimum percent in 10+2 -55 above.
