Hello,

CLAT exam is the most sought after law entrance exam after XII standard. CLAT is conducted every year for admission into 21 National Law Universities in India for their five year LLB programmes. CLAT score is also accepted by other law schools like NMIMS Mumbai, UPES-Dehradun etc.

CLAT exam for admission to UG courses is conducted in offline mode. The exam is of two hours duration and comprises of 200 multiple choice questions carrying 1 mark each with negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer. The questions will be from the following subject areas:

1. English including Comprehension(40 marks): Questions will be from the central theme and understanding of the given passage, vocabulary questions from the words used within the passage etc. The grammar section will include correction of incorrect grammatical sentences, filling blanks with appropriate words etc.

2. General Knowledge and Current Affairs(50 marks): Questions will be from static general knowledge and national & international current affairs.

3. Mathematics and Numerical Ability(20 marks): Questions will be from elementary mathematics(up to 10th standard level).

4. Legal Aptitude(50 marks): Questions will include legal propositions(described in the paper) and a set of facts to which they have to be applied. These propositions may not be true sometimes but the answers have to be given considering them as true. It will test the student's interest in law and problem-solving ability.

5. Logical Reasoning(40 marks): Questions will be from logical reasoning questions such as syllogisms, logical sequences etc.

CLAT exam for admission to PG courses is of two hours duration and comprises of 150 multiple choice questions carrying 1 mark each with negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer. The questions will be from the following subject areas:

1. Constitutional law(50 marks)

2. Jurisprudence(50 marks)

3. Other law subjects such as Contract, Criminal law etc.

The Commom Law Apptitude Test (CLAT) includes majorily 5 sections:English (Comprehension), General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability), Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning.

1.English including comprehension: The English section will test the students' proficiency in English based on comprehension passages and grammar. In the comprehension section, students will be questioned on their understanding of the passage and its crux, meanings of words used therein, etc.


The grammar section requires correction of incorrect grammatical sentences, filling of blanks in sentences with appropriate words, etc.


2.General Knowledge and Current Affairs:The General knowledge will be tested on the general awareness including static and dynamic general knowledge. Questions on current affairs will test students on their knowledge of national and international current affairs.


3.Mathematics:This section will test candidate's knowledge on 10th level mathematics, Basic level mathematucs tricked  into word problems.

4.Legal Aptitude: This section will test student's interest towards study of law, research knowledge and problem solving ability. Questions may include legal propositions (described in the paper), and a set of facts to which the said proposition has to be applied. Some propositions may not be "true" in the real sense, candidates will have to assume the "truth" of these propositions and answer the questions accordingly.

5.Logical Reasoning: The purpose of the logical reasoning section is to test the candidate's ability to identify patterns, logical links and correct illogical arguments. It may include a variety of logical reasoning questions such as syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies, etc. However, visual reasoning will not be tested.

The marks are substituted as follows:

1. English / Verbal Ability/Grammar : 50 marks

2. Mathematics : 20 marks

3. Logical reasoning : 50 marks

4. Legal Reasonong :30 marks

5. General Knowledge : 50 marks

CLAT 2019 result is expected to be released on May 31, 2019. The first merit list of selected candidates is expected to be released on June 06, 2019.

Hello!

For CLAT undergraduate law program you will be examined on the basis of English (Comprehension and Grammar), Legal aptitude, Logical reasoning, Elementary Mathematics, General knowledge and current affairs. There will be 200 questions to attempt within 2 hours and 1 mark will be given for right answer and 0.25 will be deducted for any wrong answer.

For postgraduation programme subjects will be jurisprudence, Constitutional law and other subjects and 150 questions to attempt with same marking scheme as undergraduate exam.
