If A and B are non empty sets, then A*B(I mean A into B) is called cartesian product of the two sets A and B. Any subset of this cartesian product is known as a relation.

A function is a relation which satisfies some conditions as follows

A function is a relation in which every element in set A has ATLEAST and ATMOST one element in B (image of A) mapped with itself.

Every function is a relation but every relation is not a function.

Hello,

A relation is said to be set of inputs and outputs that are related in some way. When each input in a relation has exactly one output then the relation is a function. If a relation is a function then no input has more than one output.Every function is a relation but every relation is not a function.

Hope this helps you.
