Candidates who want to get admission to the diploma courses offered at the Government Polytechnic Kanpur must meet the minimum eligibility criteria. Candidates who are eligible to get admission to the diploma courses must qualify the entrance examination conducted by the JEECUP for Government Polytechnic Kanpur admissions. Further, selected candidates have to participate in the JEECUP counselling process.

The entrance process is conducted every year for candidates of diploma course of such Polytechnic/ Institution under the Joint Entrance Examination Council, Uttar Pradesh, which are affiliated to the Polytechnic/ Institute of Technical Education Council. On the basis of the merit and reservation of the written examination, institutes and branches are allocated to selected candidates through the counselling process.
