Haemoglobin is a 'Respiratory Pigment' present in RBC's ( red blood cells ). The main function of haemoglobin is to carry oxygen throughout out body and transport some amount of carbon dioxide from different parts of the body to the lungs.
It contains iron which helps it to gather oxygen molecules from the air we inhale and deliver it everywhere in the body.
