Dear student,
I have answered a very similar question recently with best of my knowledge and research from various sources so I will try to answer this question in very similar way. Please read it carefully.
I will explain about IELTS in very basic language.
Suppose you want to migrate to Australia for your higher studies or any kind of employment and there you want to join an university, now that university will inquire the knowledge of English language so for they do not take personal test, they rely on a test known as IELTS.
So before migrating, you have to appear for IELTS and pass in this test to prove that you can understand, write and listen the English language.
IELTS has four section in its test and these are below.
Most of the foreign reputable universities, Professional registration bodies and government of the country where you are migrating prefers the IELTS score as the proof of your English language skill.
I hope this clears your doubt.
