Complex number are those numbers which can be expressed in the form a + bi,
where a and b are real numbers,
and i is the solution of the equation such that x^2 = -1. But since no real number satisfies this equation, i is called an imaginary number.
Thus in simple language complex numbers are those numbers whose square gives us a negative number
For example ( -2)^1/2 is a complex number

A complex number is mainly a number that is expressed in the form a + bi, where a and b are real numbers, and i is a solution of the equation x^2 = −1. Because no real number satisfies this equation, i is called an imaginary number.
In the expression a+bi, a is real part and b is imaginary part.
