Hello,
I'm providing the cut off rank for few NITs for SC category so that you will get some idea about the cut off rank
- Dr. B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar:Bio Technology-6225
- National Institute of Technology Hamirpur: Electrical Engineering-3641
- National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur: Metallurgical and Materials Engineering-6407
- National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal: Information Technology-642
The cut off mentioned is for SC category under other state quota and this was the cut off in JoSAA 2020 round 6 counselling. As you can see the cut off rank varied for each NIT and branch. Analysing the previous year cut off trends the ideal score is 95-96 percentile. So you should aim to score minimum 95-96 percentile to get seat in an NIT. Also, the cut off depends on the total number of candidates, difficulty level of exam and number of seats available etc.

Hello Aspirant,
See there is no any minimum or maximum percentile required to be eligible for admission in NITs for any category because the seat allotment process is based on the rank of candidate but if you are SC candidate and wants to get into any NIT then you should at least try for 90+ percentile in JEE-Main 2021 for top NITs and for average NITs 80-85 percentile will also be the decent score .
And the qualifying cut-off percentiles which needs to be cleared by any candidate to sit in JEE-Advance is released along with the final result of JEE-Main and for JEE-Main 2021 the final result will be released after all four attempts will be completed and the final result will be on the basis of your best score amongst different attempts.
However basis on previous year's cut-off trends we can help you with the expected qualifying cut-offs for this year :-
Common Rank List (CRL) - 90- 95 Percentile
GEN-EWS - 70- 75 Percentile
Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) - 70- 75 Percentile
Scheduled Caste (SC) - 50- 55 Percentile
Scheduled Tribe (ST) - 40- 45 Percentile
PwD - 1-2 Percentile
Note that in above table it is not the actual cut-off for JEE-Main 2021 but expected on the basis of previous year's analysis. You can check out previous year's cut-off trends from the link given below :-
