The Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (not round off) in Master s Degree and that is recognised by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this Test.

Hello,

To apply for UGC NET 2019, you must have a master's degree with at least 55% marks from a recognized university/institutions recognized by UGC whereas candidates belonging to OBC/SC/ST category are required to have at least 50% marks in their post-graduation in order to appear for the exam. If you are applying for JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) then you must be not more than 30 years of age whereas for Assistant Professor there is no upper age limit.

If you are applying for JRF, then you must not be more than 30 years, however, if you wish to appear for Asst. Professor, then there is no upper age limit. Reserved category candidates get age relaxation of 3-5 years.

Before applying for any exam it’s better to know about the eligibility criteria of that. To get an idea about whether you are eligible or not for the exam.

Here I have shared the details related to the UGC NET eligibility criteria.

Educational Qualification —

You must have masters’ degree to appear for the UGC NET exam with minimum 55% aggregate marks if you belong to General category or minimum 50% aggregate marks if you are from OBC/SC/ST/PwD category.

Age Criteria —

If you want to apply for Junior Research Fellowship, then your age must not exceed 30 years.

OBC/SC/ST/PwD/Women candidates get 5 years’ age relaxation.

There are no age criteria for Assistant Professor candidates can appear for exam when they want.

  • Age: If you are applying for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), then you should not be more than 30 years of age, while for Assistant Professor there is no upper age limit.
  • Educational Qualification: You must have secured 55% marks in Masters degree or equivalent from a recognized university. However, candidates belonging to reserved category are given 5% relaxation.

The minimum qualification required to apply for UGC NET is that a candidate should have completed masters degree holders with at least 55% marks.

Candidates who have appeared OR will be appearing at the qualifying Masters degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for award of Junior Research Fellowship/eligibility for Assistant professor only after they have passed their Masters Degree examination OR equivalent with at least 55% marks(50% marks in case of OBC(Non- creamy layer)/SC/ST/PWD(persons with disability) category candidates. Such candidates must complete their P.G degree examination within two years from the date of NET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.

He/ she must not be more than 28 years as on January 1, 2019 for applying for Junior Research Fellowship.

A relaxation of up to 5 years is provided for candidates belonging to reserved categories

Ph.D. degree holders will be given relaxation of 5% aggregate marks if they have completed masters degree before September 19, 1992 .

Hello

Minimum age for NET examination is below 28 years as on January 1, 2019 for applying and 5 years relaxation is provided for reservation category and with bachelor degree with at least 55% marks  p.hd holders have 5% relaxation in marks

You must have 55% marks in your masters degree or equivalent to it to be eligible for giving  UGC NET.You can apply for it after completing your post graduation. But some people applies for even while pursuing post graduation to know more about the paper.

You must be At least 28 years old if thinking about going for fellowship. No upper age bar.
