The minimum marks required for admission to B.Tech programmes at Manipal University is defined as the cutoff. The university prepares the cutoff and releases the closing ranks for all category candidates. This means if you have scored marks equal to or more than the closing rank of the particular campus and course, only then you will be entitled admission there, otherwise not. The authorities prepare the cutoff following certain factors like – number of candidates appeared, number of seats available, cutoff trends of previous year's and difficulty level of the MU OET entrance exam.

For B.Tech admission at Manipal University, you need to take MU OET. For appearing in MU OET, you must have studied Physics, Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects in 10+2 (or equivalent) exam along with Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology or any technical vocational subject as optional subject. With these subjects in the qualifying examination, you must have scored at least 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Mathematics and any one of the optional subjects. This is the eligibility for taking the test.
Further, in MU OET, you will be considered eligible for counselling only if you score 50% marks in MU OET.
