Hi
This is a bit difficult to predict the marks/percentile/rank required in JEE mains to get a seat in nit as cut off keeps changing every year depending upon various factors like number of students that appeared in the exam, kind of marks obtained by them , toughness level of the jee main examination , number of seats available for the branch you want etc.
When we go through previous year trend then ,
To get into nits you should try to get at least around 95 percentile to be on the safe side under open state if you are from obc ncl
For example,
In round 6 of josaa counselling 2020 , for gender neutral to get civil engineering , closing rank in nit sikkim for obc ncl category is provided below for open state :-
Civil engineering :- 13352 obc rank
And 13352 obc rank is around overall 95 percentile. For rank vs marks vs percentile, you can visit

Or you can use rank predictor,

While under home state, you can get a seat with around 85- 90 percentile depending upon your home state
For example ,
49554 was closing OBC ncl closing rank for civil engineering for gender neutral in 6th round of josaa counselling in NIT Jalandar for home state which is around 85 percentile
You can check the same at

Hello Aspirant,
See there is no any minimum percentile concept behind admissions in NITs, IIITs instead it depends upon various factors like difficulty level of exam, top score and so on but there is JEE-Main qualifying cut-off percentiles which needs to be cleared by any candidate to sit in JEE-Advance is released along with the final result of JEE-Main and for JEE-Main 2021 the final result will be released after all four attempts will be completed and the final result will be on the basis of your best score amongst different attempts. However basis on previous year's cut-off trends we can help you with the expected qualifying cut-offs for this year :-
Note that in above table it is not the actual cut-off for JEE-Main 2021 but expected on the basis of previous year's analysis. You can check out previous year's cut-off trends from the link given below :-

Now being OBC candidate if you want to get seat in NIT through Other state quota then you should try to secure at least 90-92 percentile but if it is through Home state quota then you should target for 87-89 percentile.

Hey!
To get admission in top NITs with most considered branches candidates need to have minimum 94 percentile in jee mains. According to the previous year cutoffs, candidates upto 40,000 rank got admission in NITs with the preferred branches.
For an obc candidate, 92+ percentile would keep you on the same side of admission in NITs.
Hope it helped to clear your delimma.
