It's a bit difficult to answer. The earnings of a surgeon depends on where does the surgeon practice & the type of practice.The average salary for a General Surgeon is above Rs 10 lacs per year. Experience strongly influences payscale for this job.Surgeons in Govt institutions get fixed salary and the surgeons in private institutions take home approx 40% (after taxes) of their listed fee as the hospital. In CNN Money feature, general surgeons ranked second place in the “20 Highest-Paying Jobs”.
