Since you have not provided which educational board, let's take CBSE as an example. In case of the CBSE Class 12 board, you must score a minimum of 33% marks out of 100.

Hello John,

YFor each subject in HSC exam, you'll have to score at least 20% for each paper i.e. (16 marks minimum for an 80 marks paper & 14 marks minimum for a 70 marks paper) to be considered as Passed.

In total for all subjects, including internal and written exam marks, you'll have to score 33% minimum to pass.

Now, these 33% marks can be viewed by dividing your subjects into two categories -

  • Those subjects which didn’t have a practical examination, like Mathematics, English and even Hindi also. The whole theory paper will be of 100 marks and you have to score 33 marks to pass.
  • Those subjects which have a practical examination, like Physics, Biology, Chemistry, CS and even Physical Education also. Theory paper is of 70 marks and practical is of 30. So, you have to score 23+10 in both of them simultaneously in order to secure passing marks.

Hope this helps.
