The Civil Services Preliminary Examination comprises two compulsory papers of 200 marks. Both question papers will carry objective type multiple choice questions. The question paper will be in English and Hindi. The General Studies Paper II of IAS preliminary exam is qualifying in nature and candidates have to secure 33%. The mains examination comprises two qualifying papers and seven papers that will be counted for merit. The total marks for mains exam is 1750. Candidates qualifying mains examination are called for Personality Test. This test carries 275 marks. Merit is decided based on the marks secured in mains and personality test.

Paper B – English

Essay (Paper I)
General Studies (Paper II-V)
Optional Subjects (Paper VI-VII)
