Hai, there are 3 main sections
Verbal ability and reading comprehension
(VARC) total questions mcqs
26 18
2) Data interpretation and logical reasoning
(DILR) total question mcqs
24 18
3) quantitative apitude
(QA) total question mcqs
26 18

Total 76 54
3 marks for each right question
1 mark is deducted for wrong answer in case of mCQs

Dear Aspirant,

In 2020, the number of questions in each section of CAT exam will be reduced to lessen lessen the time pressure on students to complete the CAT 2021 exam. However, the exam pattern will remain same with 2 hours of duration.

60 minutes per section (Total 180 minutes)

  • 40 Minutes for Each Section (VARC, DILR, QA).

  • 53 Minutes 20 Seconds for PwD candidates for each section.

Slot-wise Session

  • Slot 1: 8:30 am - 10:30 pm (Morning Session)

  • Slot 2: 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm (Afternoon Session)

  • Slot 3: 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm (Evening Session)

76 Questions (54 MCQs and 22 Non-MCQs)

NOTE: Expected to be 64 to 66 questions

  • For every right answer, +3 will be awarded

  • For every wrong answer in MCQs, -1 will be deducted

Your CAT examination has 3 sections :-

----------) VERBAL ABILITY AND READING COMPREHENSION ( VARC) :- Reading  is the key to score good marks in VARC, you need to go through newspapers, articles, journals, etc so that you can improve your reading skills. While reading note down the new words and write their meanings to improve your vocabulary. You need to practice questions based on comprehension, para jumbles and inference.

----------)DATA INTERPRETATION AND LOGICAL REASONING (DILR) :- You need to practice topics like blood relations ,seating arrangements, syllogisms,Propositions, etc to have a good hold on this section. Unlike maths, there's no formula in DILR so practice is the key, the more you practice, the better you get.

----------)QUANTITATIVE ABILITY (QA) :- First clear your basics of maths,  you need to go through topics like profit and loss, geometry,  Arithmetic, number system, Time-Speed and Distance etc . Avoid the use of calculator so that you can do improve your calculation speed. For each topic, you can write down important fomulas and short tricks on a sheet of paper so that it's easy for you during revision.
