Two sections will make up the JEE Main 2025 paper format. There will be ten Numerical Value Type (NVT) questions in Section B and twenty Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) in Section A. Candidates are only required to respond to five of the ten questions in Section B.

The JEE Main 2025 paper pattern having two sections for every subject i.e physics , chemistry, maths first one is Section A it will consist of 20 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), while Section B includes 10 Numerical Value Type (NVT) questions. In Section B, candidates are required to answer only five out of the 10 questions.for example Mathematics: 30 (20+10) in which 20 question are MCQ and10 Questions with answers as a numerical value. Out of 10 questions, 5 question required to answer.

- The JEE Main 2025 exam pattern for B.E/B.Tech (Paper 1) will consist of three subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
- Each subject will have 30 questions, divided into two sections: 20 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and 10 numerical value questions.
- Out of these 10 numerical questions, candidates must attempt only 5.
- The total marks for Paper 1 are 300.
The exam will follow a marking scheme where each correct answer in MCQs will earn 4 marks, and 1 mark will be deducted for incorrect answers.
However, there will be no negative marking for unanswered questions or for numerical value questions. The exam duration is 3 hours and will be conducted in a computer-based format.
Additionally, the exam will be held in two sessions—likely in January and April 2025.
