hello ,

  1. For most of his classmates clearing UPSC-NDA is a matter of pride but not just for their own personal careers but their School, Houses, BhaiSahabs(senior alums) and their batchmates. This added support and expectations makes them strive much harder than other private/government/ public school students.
  2. They are all preparing hard to get their School the Raksha Mantri trophy which is given to the school which contributes the most cadets to the NDA from their outgoing batch. This coveted award gives them the extra Kick; knowing that they belonged to the batch that won the Raksha Mantri trophy and got laurels to their schools.
  3. The legacy of their seniors helps the trace the esteemed footprints in the sands of time. Our current Flag Officer Commanding Vice Admiral H.C.S Bisht is their alumni. He invited by brothers batch to Vizag and gave them a full fledged tour of many important naval ships like Corvette, patrol vessels etc. Some of them which my brother visited were INS Kaveri, INS Jalashwa etc. They even saw intricate details of these ships and witnessed firing of Anti Material guns, rockets etc. These were very exciting moments for the whole batch. These youngsters are exposed to such levels of military experience which is only lesser to actual military men but much MORE than what common civilian students witness e.g. talking to a real MARCO( in duty) and interacting with them. This is huge catalyst. An interesting story about their visit was when the Vice Admiral asked them before their tour had begun only few students wanted to join navy and the majority of them wanted to join army but when asked again during their farewell dinner they atleast 50% had changed their mind. More info about the Vice Admiral.
  4. In this way many senior officers of the Army , navy and airforce invite these students who are still in their formative years and help them make an informed choice about which proud arm of the military they want to join.
  5. At sainik schools and RIMC they don't just educate students they mould gentlemen of the society. You can easily spot a cadet of these schools even if he us in casual clothes by way of his manners and etiquettes. They carry themselves graciously and don't resort to hooligansism which has become quite a fad these days amoung youngsters. You can easily differentiate a RIMCO from a DOSCO if they are walking in the bazaars of Dehradun. The former being a student of RIMC and latter being a student of the “posh” The Doon School( alma mater of Rahul Gandhi ).
