what is the percentage to get seat in nit obc NCL reservation.
Hello Aspirant,
As per the norms decided by central government and other competent authorities all the Central government institutions should have fixed reservation quota for particular reserved category candidates and for OBC-NCL category there is 27% quota and as NIT is also a central government institution so 27% of total seats for particular course will be reserved for OBC candidates.
For reference JEE-Main reservation quotas are also mentioned below which will only work for making the qualifying cut-offs for JEE-Advance because from every category some fixed number of students only qualify for JEE-Advance and admission to NITs are based on their institutional quotas :-
- General Economically Weaker Sections (GEN-EWS) - 10%
- Scheduled Castes (SC) - 15%
- Scheduled Tribes (ST) - 7.5%
- Non-Creamy Layer of Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) - 27%
- Persons with Disabilities - 5% in each category (Horizontal reservation)
PwD category candidates get Horizontal reservation of 5% across all categories and horizontal reservation means the PwD candidate will get 5% reservation in each category for e.g. you belongs to OBC NCL category and also you owns PwD certificate then you will be eligible for OBC-PwD category means in 27% quota of OBC candidates you will get 5% reservation advantage and similarly with other categories as well.
So other than OBC NCL there are 4 reserved categories and that are SC, ST, EWS and PwD.
