Indian Institute of Science (IISC) is one of tge the premier institute of India. It is an UGC approved and NAAC accredited college located in Bangalore. It was established in the year 1909. The institute was established to promote scientific temper and research attitude in the nation. It has 34 departments and centers organised into 6 division.
The admissions in IISc are based on the entrance exams such as GATE/ CAT/ GMAT/ CEED. IISc offers admission to its four-year Bachelor of Science (Research ) program. Students who will appear for the 12 th board exams and those who have passed in 12 th boards are eligible for admission.

For admission into UG courses in IISc, the candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects during their II PUC / 12th Standard. Candidates who have studied Biology, Statistics, Electronics, Computer Science, etc., in addition to Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are also eligible to apply. The candidates must have secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or equivalent grade (relaxed to pass class for SC/ST candidates) in the II PUC / 12th Standard examination.
Selection will be done based on the merit list of one of the following national examinations:
- KVPY
- IIT JEE Mains
- IIT JEE Advanced
- NEET-UG
Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/Economically Weaker Sections/Person with disability (PwD) and Kashmiri-Migrant (KM) candidates will be as per Government of India regulations.
