Hello Gauri
JEE Mains consists of two parts: Paper 1 (for B.E. and B.Tech.) and Paper 2 (for B.Arch. and B.Planning).
Paper 1 is a 3-hour examination which consists of 90 multiple choice questions, 30 from each Physics, Maths, and Chemistry. It is conducted in both online and offline modes. There is also 25% negative marking awarded for every wrong choice. Paper 2 consists of three parts- Mathematics, Aptitude Test, and Drawing Test (questions to test a candidate’s drawing aptitude). It is conducted only in offline mode.
The JEE Advanced paper pattern and marking scheme vary every year, but, the question papers will consist of objective type (multiple choice) and numerical answer type questions which are designed to test comprehension, reasoning, and analytical ability of candidates. Incorrect answers to some of the questions will result in a deduction of marks. The question paper will be in either English or Hindi.
